Mission & Service Team

Leader: Nancy Myers

From its beginning as a mission church, HPUMC has been actively involved in mission activities.  We actively support the denomination's mission agencies, especially the work of the United Methodist Committee on Relief.  Regular mission moments in worship keep congregants up-to-date on the team's work.

The church has sponsored missionaries in Africa.  We also send persons on mission trips.  In the past, we've sent persons to Bolivia, the Philippines and Nicaragua.

Over the years, we have established a relationship with Highland Park Elementary School. We assist with back to school needs and have needs throughout the school year.  In past years, we have served a special meal for teachers, administrators, and staff at the end of the school year.

Local mission projects are very important to our work.  We support the ministry of the OSU Wesley Foundation.  Each fall, we collect food as part of the Harvest II food drive, coordinated by the Junior Service League of Stillwater.

We also participate in all six of the special Sunday offerings of the United Methodist Church.

One of our most exciting local partnerships is with Lincoln Academy, Stillwater's alternative school.  We collect new and gently used prom dresses for students who do not have them.  Each year, the United Methodist Women host Lincoln students for the annual “Craft Day” and brunch. Various people in the church offer a craft for the students to make and share with their families, since many of them do not have the resources to purchase Christmas gifts. After a morning of crafts, the students are treated to a wonderful brunch.
